Hawaiian Birds

This is my wedding gift for a wonderful couple of friends Natalia and Dell, who just got married in Canada and decided to spend their honeymoon in Hawaii. The scenery is my interpretation, of course, of honey creepers gently feeding on a tree of Metrosideros Polymorpha. These two types are endangered honey creepers of Maui Island, the two above are Palmeria Dolei (‘Akohekohe) and the two below are Magumma Parva (‘Anianiau).
My decision to make such subject came from trying to find something that could be liked by the both of them. Luckily enough, Natalia loves nature and animals, whilst Dell is a zoologist and big part of his job involves studying and keeping track of various types of birds. The painting is now hanging in their lovely home in Guelph, Ontario.
